Vail’s last day is Sunday, April 21, 2019. That leaves only 9 weeks left this season to get out and have some snowy fun! Because this winter has been a great snow year, Vail is excited for unbelievable spring skiing conditions!

As we approach longer days and strong sunshine, we’ve listed our favorite things about spring skiing in Vail!

Bluebird Ski Days

Local’s call these sunny, blue skied days Chamber of Commerce days because they are a huge selling point for Vail. While skiing the Back Bowls you’ll be blown away by the dramatic views. The contrast of the vast white ski slopes against the deep blue ski is truly awe inspiring. You’ll find yourself declaring over and over ‘the sky is so blue!!.’

Longer Ski Days

Lifts open at 8:30 and the last lift on the front side descends at 4. The longer ski day means you can either clock record vertical, explore more of Vail mountain or chill out and BBQ on a sun deck! Relax with the sun on your cheeks and feet up at Mid Vail or Eagle’s Nest and ski down with slopes all to yourself in the late afternoon sunshine.

Pick your deck!  You can go to the farthest edge of Vail to Belle’s camp and BBQ your own lunch with views of Mt of Holy Cross. Or bask in the sun in the thin air at Two Elk lodge with 360-degree views of the Gore Range and China Bowl. Mid Vail and Eagle’s Nest are the true spring scene with outdoor tiki bar and mouthwatering food courts to please any taste.

Golf/Ski or Fish/Ski or Bike/Ski

Sneak in early morning turns on untracked corduroy then completely change gears and think spring! Schedule a half day guided fly-fishing experience with Minturn Anglers or Vail Valley Anglers. Or head further down valley to the Gypsum Creek Golf Course for a round of 18 and in the mountain sunshine. If you didn’t get enough exercise skiing, then hit the mountain bike trails in Eagle! Vail Bike Tech can hook you up with a rental!

Spring Dining Specials

As the season winds down all the Vail Village restaurants start to offer enticing dining specials! From après ski drink specials at Bully Ranch and Swiss Chalet small plates to dinner deals to Montauk Grill and Terra Bistro!

Spring Back to Vail 2019

Who doesn’t love free concerts! Spring Back to Vail is the annual celebration at the end of the ski season with free concerts, World Pond Skimming Championship and general on mountain mayhem!
