DANCE, DANCE, DANCE

The Vail International Dance Festival heads into its 29th season this summer. From July 31 to August 11, 2020 dancers from around the globe bring their grace and talent to stages in Vail, Beaver Creek and Avon.

In 1989, after their performances in Houston were cancelled, Vail happily agreed to host the Bolshoi Ballet Company of Moscow. After three sold-out shows, former president Gerald R. Ford and his wife, longtime residents of the Vail Valley, seized the opportunity to create a cultural exchange through dance which grew into the Vail International Dance Festival. While still featuring ballet, the festival has grown to include dancers from around the world performing a variety of styles from street dance to tap to modern to flamenco to ballroom.
