While changing aspens dazzle the surrounding mountainsides, Vail hums with events and festivals.
September 9-11 is all about wheels. The Outlier Offroad Festival spans Lionshead and Vail Villages with mountain bike and product demos, a cross-country race and a 3-stage thrilling downhill enduro. There is also a 10K trail run. Auto enthusiasts will enjoy the Wings and Wheels Festival. Aircraft displays, road tours, an auto auction, and aerobatics shows occur at the Vail Valley Jet Center, and prize-winning classic cars will be on display during the Vail Village Car Show on Sunday morning. Care to roll a keg instead? Vail Oktoberfest™ occurs the weekends of Sept. 9-11 in Lionshead and Sept. 16-18 in Vail Village and is rated among the ten best Oktoberfest celebrations in the United States by USA Today. Gears shift Sept. 11-18, when The FIPS-MOUCHE Flyfishing World Championships gathers anglers from 25 countries to compete in loch (lake or still water) and river competitions. On Sundays throughout the month, the Vail Farmers’ Market and Art Show brings together local and regional produce and wares.
