Labor Day Weekend in Vail offers mountain adventures, yes, but also world-class Jazz, a vibrant farmers’ market, a gourmet festival, and a creek teeming yellow. The Vail Jazz Party, capstone of the Vail Jazz Festival, brings 35 headliners for performances ranging from multi-artist jam sessions to a “Gospel Prayer Meetin’.” The Vail Farmers’ Market and Art Show runs Sunday, 10:00-4:00, and offers 135 tents housing a variety of local produce and wares. One street over, Gourmet on the Gore lines Gore Creek Drive, serving up a la carte delights from the Vail Valley’s best chefs and eateries. Sunday at 3:00, the Vail Rotary Duck Race, a valley tradition benefitting local non-profits, sends 12,000 “adopted” rubber ducks down Gore Creek. Released at the Covered Bridge, they race down to the International Bridge. First duck in the chute wins $5,000 for its adoptive owner! There’s a kids’ race at 2:00.
