Vail’s finest mountaintop adventure experience has just been upgraded. After much research and planning, the brand new Zip Runner zipline is finally open at Adventure Ridge, on top of Vail Mountain. This new zip line is the the highest in altitude of any zip line in the Vail Valley, and is all the rage for kids and families looking for an exciting adventure right outside the back door in Vail!
Adventure Ridge is located at the top of the Eagle Bahn Gondola in Lionshead (just across the pedestrian bridge from SimbaRun’s convenient Vail condominiums!) The new zip line is phase one of a plan that includes a series of connecting zip lines that will potentially take zippers all the way down into Game Creek Bowl. The experience is part of the exciting new Epic Discovery concept, which will completely reexamine the way summer travelers experience Vail Mountain. Epic Discovery, via the multiple-stage zip line course and other new features plans to take riders on a series of zip lines and high aerial bridges for a completely new perspective on Vail’s lush flora and vibrant summer ecosystem, with a knowledgeable local guide leading the way. Riders age 8 and up can enjoy 2013’s first zip line, which travels 1200 feet and takes riders on a fast course with a safe, quick stop at the finish. It is located adjacent to the Adventure Ridge tubing hill.
Also new and exciting at Adventure Ridge is the Aerial Ropes Challenge Course. This high ropes course challenges adventurers to use strength and skill to travel from one obstacle to the next on a complex arrangement of ropes and landing points. These courses have often been used for team building, and in this case its from pure recreation and family fun! The little ones are welcome on the course- ages 5-9 need an accompanying adult. But ages 9 and up can have at it at their own pace. The course is super safe, with professional guides supervising and harnesses to keep you secure on the course. And all participants will take a short “Ground School” informational course to “learn the ropes” before attacking the Ropes Challenge Course!
In addition to these newest features, all the traditional summer activities at Adventure Ridge are in full force as well. Open air jeep tours, mini-golf, disc golf, hiking, rebound trampoline, kids climbing wall and horseback riding means there are hours, or even days of fun to be experienced at the top of Vail in summer. Adventure Ridge is open daily through September 2, and on weekends through September 29.
