Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival welcomes the New York Philharmonic back for its 10th year, this Friday, July 22. The NYP will not disappoint, offering powerful performances on themes like “Of Peasants and Heroes” and “Luminous Magic and a Raging Sea of Sound.” Music Director Alan Gilbert leads the orchestra this weekend and guest soloists include violinists Veronika Eberle and Augustin Hadelich and pianist Alexander Romanovsky. The La Sportiva Vail Half Marathon is this Sunday, July 24. Runners of the Vail Half Marathon will test themselves on a course that’s just over the half marathon distance with an average grade of 7 percent. The half marathon boasts 4,020 feet climb up roads on Vail Mountain with a high point on the course at 11,653 feet. Aid stations along the route will be at miles three, six, nine, 11 and 13 providing water and Gatorade Endurance Formula. The race begins at 8 a.m. and pre-registration cost is $28, while day-of registration cost is $38.
